Global energy company

Our client faced threatened litigation proceedings by a shareholder relating to the Board's consideration of climate related matters in key business decisions, which were of critical significance to the company. We worked with the client to mitigate the risk of any climate change-related litigation being brought by the shareholder or any other climate activists to disrupt the key business decisions. The shareholder ultimately did not initiate the threatened proceedings.

Tuggerah Lakes Residents

Residents sought legal action against the Central Coast Council following severe flooding that impacted their properties. We assisted in preparing a class action lawsuit, advocating for the residents’ rights and highlighting the council’s responsibilities in managing climate risks. Our efforts brought attention to the need for improved flood management strategies, ultimately benefiting the community.

UNICEF

Children in the East Asia and Pacific region are increasingly threatened by environmental degradation. UNICEF sought to empower these children to advocate for their rights to a safe, healthy environment. We collaborated with UNICEF to develop a regional strategy for promoting the legal empowerment of children across Vietnam, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia and Mongolia to enjoy their rights to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment. The initiative produced a technical report (published by UNICEF here) that serves as a key resource for policymakers and advocates. This work was provided on a pro bono basis.
