The High Speed Rail Authority (Authority), as part of their commitment to industry engagement, invites Australian and international businesses, advisors, and industry bodies to register interest in shaping the future high-speed rail (HSR) network along Australia’s east coast.

This first stage targets a HSR connection between Sydney and Newcastle, which connects key metropolitan and regional centres of Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. By opening the registrations of interest, the Authority aims to gather advanced concepts and practices for the planning and delivery of the project.

Involvement in the HSR will focus on local manufacturing, workforce development, net-zero emissions, sustainable infrastructure, city optimisation, efficient delivery, new rail technologies, and private investment.

The engagement process commences in July 2024 and is crucial in developing the Sydney to Newcastle Business Case (further information is publicly available within the Registration of Interest forms).

Interested parties are encouraged to complete and submit the Registration of Interest forms available on the Authority website.

We will continue to monitor, and keep our clients updated on, future developments of the HSR and the rail sector generally.
