Simon specialises in competition, consumer and regulatory law. Simon advises clients on all aspects of competition/anti-trust law as well as matters involving energy, telecommunications, financial or water regulation, consumer law issues, franchising, and general commercial law.
Simon has deep expertise and experience in competition merger control, where he regularly guides clients to successful clearance outcomes, including under Australia’s new competition merger clearance regime.
Aside from mergers and general competition law work, Simon helps clients on specialist issues including infrastructure regulation and access, regulated pricing and joint ventures as well as issues with small customer and consumer contracting.
Simon also specialises in energy regulation, advising on Australian electricity and gas regulatory matters for clients across the wholesale, retail and infrastructure markets, including in relation to renewable energy, and Australia’s energy transition.
As part of his expertise, Simon is also frequently sought out by clients facing regulatory investigations or enforcement action in competition, consumer and energy law areas by the ACCC, the AER and state-based regulators.
