James Cain advises clients on a broad range of financing transactions. His clients come from various sectors including financial institutions, non-bank lending, property groups, private equity and government.
James’s practice has a particular focus on financings related to real estate assets, including housing projects (build-to-rent, build-to-sell and social/affordable housing projects), hotels, retail centres, offices, logistics/industrial facilities and mixed use developments. His experience in this space covers construction/development finance, investment finance, acquisition finance, project finance, corporate finance, mezzanine finance and loan-on-loan structures.
James’s recent transactions include:
- Consortium of Banks: involved in the development and refinance of the Indi built-to-rent tower above the south side of the Gadigal Station and separately the non-bank and bank lenders involved in the development and refinance of the Parkline Place office tower above the north side of the Gadigal Station. Both projects were conducted under a under a project development arrangement with a State government entity
- Lenders: in relation to logistics/industrial portfolios and development assets held by various funds managed by ESR
- Global Alternate Asset Manager: in relation to numerous core plus financings into logistics/industrial developments
- Global Alternate Asset Manager: in relation to two separate holdco mezzanine financings for Sydney office towers
- Aliro: in relation to the Aliro Group Industrial Vehicle’s financing platform
- Blackstone: in relation to the $1.45 billion financing of its Australian Core Property portfolio of circa 80 Australian logistics/industrial assets
- Pontiac: in relation to financing for its redevelopment of the historic Department of Education and Department of Lands buildings in the sandstone precinct of Sydney
- Financier: to a significant number of social and affordable housing projects across Australia
- Government Entity: in relation to drafting its suite of template financing documentation
