Cathy has significant experience managing complex and sensitive litigation and investigations for major corporate clients including on several market leading matters.
Cathy has a reputation for delivering timely and practical outcomes having regard to clients’ strategic goals and legal risk.
Cathy’s experience includes:
- AMP entities class action: representing AMP entities in a class action in relation to commissions and insurance products.
- National Australia Bank: representing NAB and its subsidiary in the resolution of civil penalty proceedings commenced by ASIC concerning financial hardship practices.
- MLC Super Fund class action: representing the trustee in its successful defence of class action proceedings concerning alleged conflicted remuneration and breaches of duty as a superannuation trustee.
- National Australia Bank: representing NAB in its defence of a class action in relation to consumer credit insurance (settled).
- Westpac: assisting the defence of civil penalty proceedings relating to alleged breaches of the responsible lending obligations.
- Suncorp: assisting Suncorp and its senior executives in the Financial Services Royal Commission.
