Kate is a Partner in the Tech Law team in Mallesons' Melbourne M&A group.
Kate works across commercial and government clients in a broad range of sectors, including the digital economy, telco, energy, infrastructure and transport, financial services and health.
Kate specialises in advising on complex and strategically significant commercial matters, including negotiating long term business critical services contracts and joint-venture arrangements. Kate also supports private M&A transactions, including core transaction documents and due diligence.
Kate also provides regulatory advice on various aspects of the digital economy, all things telco/radcomms/space/satellite, and typically works on projects in highly regulated industries.
Kate loves translating complex requirements into workable arrangements, and working with clients to think differently about how to approach legal support and communicate legal advice.

- Yarra Journey Makers: Advising on various aspects of the existing Melbourne tram franchise.
- AEMO transfer of functions to VicGrid: Advising AEMO on the transfer of its Victorian TNSP functions to the Victorian Government.
- Metro Trains Melbourne: Advising on various aspects of the existing passenger train franchise.
- Various energy retailers: Supporting negotiations of trial- and long-term Virtual Power Plan arrangements
- Plenti: acting for ASX-listed Fintech Plenti in its strategic partnership arrangement with NAB for secured auto/EVs and renewables lending, including negotiation of the strategic partnership agreements for the launch of co-branded products.
- IAG: supporting IAG’s supply chain optimisation projects over several years, including negotiation of joint ventures, share and asset sale arrangements, long term commercial agreements, and ongoing implementation support.
- Public transport ticketing system: acting for the incumbent operator in Victorian Government retendering for the Myki ticketing system.
- Telstra: supporting commercial contract negotiations for whole of business telecommunications services agreements, including reviewing submissions in response to tender requests, drafting contracts and attending negotiations, and negotiation of long-term critical services agreements with various Government departments for the support of telecommunications services and emergency alerts solutions, and Government grant funding for additional telco infrastructure.
- Various corporates and Government clients: advising on bespoke supplier contracts, including BCG digitisation, complex McKinsey cost–out engagement, Infosys and DXC interim DevOps engagements, agile app development, systems integration projects, and business process outsourcing.
- Telstra: Providing strategic advice on various aspects of spectrum allocation under the Radiocommunications Act, including supporting spectrum auctions and negotiated commercial spectrum arrangements.
- Online retail platforms: Providing regulatory compliance advice on a range of issues, including concerning sale of regulated product categories, the under 16 social media ban, product liability and consumer protection, logistics and warehousing.
- Political donations: Developed self-help compliance tool across State and Federal jurisdictions.
