Chris specialises in general commercial dispute resolution, public and administration law matters, and disputes regarding superannuation and tax. This includes having acted in class actions, regulatory disputes and investigations, Royal Commissions and other commissions of inquiry. Chris also has a practice in Human Rights, Modern Slavery and Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption investigations, reporting and compliance.

Chris works with government and private clients across a range of industries, and he regularly provides strategic advice and acts on their behalf in various State and Territory courts and tribunals.

Chris’ experience includes:

  • Royal Commissions: providing and advice and leading a number of witnesses and other workstreams throughout the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide on behalf of the Office of Solicitors Assisting. Chris has also acted for individual witnesses in other Royal Commissions (the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme).
  • Class actions: Acting for clients in class action proceedings in the Supreme Court of Queensland and Federal Court of Australia.
  • Superannuation and tax: Acting for trustees in various proceedings, including judicial advice applications, appeals from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, and claims against the Commissioner of Taxation.
  • Probity investigations: acting on probity investigations conducted by Australian authorities in relation to domestic and overseas conduct.
  • Modern slavery and human rights, corporate clients: advising clients across various industries and sectors to provide advice on the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), reviewing draft Modern Slavery statements for compliance, reviewing draft policies and other corporate documents and assisting in developing and implementing work plans for subsequent reporting periods.
